What’s New at the Pike Soil & Water Conservation District?
The District is selling Magic T-Shirts as a Fund Raiser. What is so special about "Magic-T-Shirts’? The printed t-shirt will go from black & white to a display of colors when worn in the sun. Ultraviolet rays activate the colors. Adults and youth will enjoy the "Magic "of the shirts. If you are looking for the item that no one else has locally-this is it. All ages will be delighted watching the colors come alive. "Magic" shirts are great for the hard to please; and everyone wants to put a little "Magic" in their clothes.
Anyone should light up receiving this very special gift as a birthday or Christmas gift. Call our office to make sure we have received our "Magic" shirts at 740-947-5353. Cost of these t -shirts is $15.00 and sweatshirts are $22.00.
This is the season, that you’re looking for the right gift to give to family members, friends, neighbors, or to the person that does the to-do list for you. Check out our bluebird boxes, wren or chickadee nesting boxes, wood duck box, woodpecker boxes, butterfly box, bat houses, and squirrel feeders and bird feeders with and without suet holders. The young and the elderly love watching wildlife. The effect can be educational and/or soothing.

Pike Soil & Water Conservation District’s 2012 Photo Contest in Progress.
The Pike SWCD is announcing the theme for the 2012 photo contest. The District is looking for photos of any season of "Old Barns in Pike County". This means that the barn has to be located in Pike County, but the photographer can live outside of the county. The contest is open to all ages. The deadline is July 1, 2012.
First place winners will receive a check of $75.00, second place, $50.00 and third place will receive a $25.00 check. You will also be honored at our annual meeting in September.
To enter, you can e-mail your photos to: mary.sibole@oh.nacdnet.net; on the subject line type photo contest. You will receive an e-mail confirming that your photos were received. Each year the Pike Soil & Water Conservation District has a photo contest consisting of a scene in Pike County. Last year it was Wildlife in Pike County. The 2011 contest was a Winter scene in Pike County. The District would like to thank all that participated in the contest.
