Wellston's Trinity United Methodist Church on South New York Avenue at 4th Street, is slated to close Sunday, May 19, when the congregation relinquishes the church to Methodist Conference officials.

The church was founded in 1881 when three laymen, David Woolam, David Ramsey, and Hubert Guinn, visited the conference requesting a preacher to hold meeting in Wellston. The first appointment was a "Mission" and became part of a circuit with a Rev. Henry Eby as the first minister sent to Wellston.

The church was first located at the corner of Vermont Avenue and First Street, on land donated by Congressman H. S. Bundy. The current building was built in 1901 on land donated by Carl Davis.

In 1947 the United Brethren Church and the Evangelical Denomination united to become the First Evangelical United Brethren Church, more commonly know locally as the EUB Church. In 1968 the EUB Church joined the Methodist Church to become the United Methodist Church.

The Minford area youth rally met on April 8th, 2013.  There were 132 in attendance.  The Faithful attendance banner for having the largest percentage of average church attendance was awarded to Three Mile Christian Baptist Church.  The Attendance banner for largest attendance was awarded to Berean Baptist Church.  Three Mile Christian Baptist was also awarded a certificate for having over 50% of their average church attendance present at the rally.

The graduating seniors were recognized at this month’s rally.  This year’s graduating seniors (with years of rally participation in parentheses) are:  from Swauger Valley FWB- Sara Simpson (10) and Justin Brown (12), from Berean Baptist-Joshua Stevens (5), from Cedar St. CCCU-Justin Hoffman (10) and from Three Mile Christian Baptist- Haley Stang (2), Autumn Roberts (1), Jacob Taylor (1), Mariah Quillen (2).  Please keep these seniors in your prayers as they enter the next exciting phase of their lives.  Congratulations and God Bless!

This was the last regular season rally and the final standings were determined and announced as to which teams are going on to the Olympic Rally on Friday, May 10th, 2013.  The 24th Annual Olympic Rally will be held at Northwest High School gymnasium at 7:30 pm.  Everyone is invited to come out and support the youth that have all worked so hard all year.  Please plan to stay for the entire competition as the youth will be awarded their final medals during the awards ceremony at the conclusion of the evening.  Congratulations to all of the teams that participated throughout the entire year for a job well done!

Why Shouldn’t Christians Accept Millions of Years?

Darwin's book has a racist title: On the Origin of Species by Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life

The Pilgrims comforted themselves on their journey by singing Psalms. This "noise" irritated one of the ships paid crewmembers. He told the Pilgrims he was looking forward to throwing their bodies overboard after they died from the routine illnesses common on such voyages. As it turned out he was the only person to die on the trip and was thrown overboard.

This is quite interesting. Allow it a minute to load - it is well-done, illuminating, and a little amazing, as it shows empires, colonies, and states come and go throughout history in just a matter of seconds. It's a constantly changing map of the Middle East and Europe, illustrating how various "empires" have risen and fallen.
